An appeal by the Narimanov District Religious Community against court's decision will be considered on May 27.

The appeal demands the Supreme Court to cancel Narimanov District Court's decision and resume the activity of the Abu Bakr mosque, representative of the community, lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov told Trend .

Abu Bakr mosque was closed after a blast last year.

The blast caused by the hand grenade thrown to Abu Bakr mosque by unknown man at 08:50p.m. on 17 August 2008, killed two and injured 19. The activities of the mosque were suspended after the blast. Elnur Bakhshiyev, of Sumgayit city, charged of committing an act of terrorism in the mosque, has been arrested.

In late October, the Narimanov District Court passed decision to resume the mosque's activity, however, the decision was later reconsidered in favor of Narimanov Police Station.

The Police Station explained its lawsuit with the necessity to keep stability and order.

Court satisfied the appeal on closing mosque's activity.

Protesting this decision, representatives of the Religious Community appealed to the Supreme Court.
