The Press Council of Azerbaijan sent a letter of thanks to the President Ilham Aliyev.

Awarding and conferring honorary titles upon journalists at the Gulistan Palace on July 22 was assessed in the letter as the logical result of events dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the national press, the press service of the Press Council said.

"During the celebrations at the Gulistan Palace, a large group of our colleagues were conferred the honorary titles "Honored Journalist", "Honored Worker of Culture", Tereggi Medal for a long and fruitful activities in the field of media. 32 newspapers being published regularly and influencing public opinion received a one-time financial assistance in amount of 20,000 manat per each, eight news agencies - 10,000 manat," said the letter.

President Ilham Aliyev's words at the opening of a new administrative building of the Press Council regarding the social protection of journalists were immediately implemented, the letter says.
"During Your participation in the opening of a new administrative building of the Press Council, You said that together with other pressing issues, the ideas and proposals for strengthening social protection will soon be solved. It was not necessary to wait for long. The decree signed by You on measures to strengthen social protection of press workers has become an invaluable gift for the journalists in Azerbaijan," said the letter.

Extensive opportunities created in the field of freedom of speech, information and expression reinforce the inspiration of each media outlet and masters of the pen, create a moral incentive for creative searches, the letter said.
