Baku hosted a presentation of new NGO 'Yarat Contemporary Art Space' led by Aida Mahmudova on Wednesday.
Participants viewed the NGO's first project - 'On soz' exhibition, which presented the work of Azerbaijani artists.
Azerbaijan's first lady, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, chairwoman of Azerbaijan-France friendship group, MP, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, well-known figures of culture and art, intellectuals, diplomatic agencies and others attended the event.
Rector of the Azerbaijani Fine Arts Academy Omar Eldarov thanked Mahmudova for organizing an interesting exhibition, which features works of Azerbaijan's young talents.
"Being an artist is the need of childhood, and having a need to organize a good exhibition open to public is a quality that is not given to many people," he said. "Many people lack such a bent," he said.
Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova said called the establishment of a new organization bringing together like-minded people as an important event in Azerbaijan. She praised Mahmudova's role, noting that she presented works of young artists at a high-level.
"I am proud that young Azerbaijani woman was able to organize an exhibition of such a high professional level," Huseynova said.
National Aviation Academy Rector, Ph.D. Arif Pashayev said the 'On Soz' exhibition is unusual, as the artists' works are presented in the building under construction, which is know-how for us.
"Today's exhibition is a joyful event for me," he said nothing that the organization's name is very interesting.
In her remarks Mahmudova thanked all those participating in the exhibition.
"I was very pleased to participate in this project and realize my dream," she said. "I believe people's interest in this kind of art will boost after this event."
'Yarat' Contemporary Art Space' is an independent NGO aiming to render private support to development of modern art in Azerbaijan, organize exhibitions, festivals, seminars, workshops and various educational activities to promote the Azerbaijani artists in the country and abroad.
The 'On soz' exhibition is the first project of the newly established 'Yarat! Contemporary Art Space'. The exhibition presented installations, performance and video art along with traditional forms and genres of contemporary art. Some 27 artists-exhibitors were mostly young representatives of the contemporary Azerbaijani art.
The exposition's title 'On soz' ('Preface') gives to understand that here it is dealt with the most urgent, front, and experimental pieces of art, affecting significant and vital aspects of modernity.
The exhibition targets to draw public attention to the crucial role of modern art as a kind of art analysis, revealing and analyzing the most relevant topics and issues of today through a conceptual art models. Other most important tasks of the exhibition is to provide the public new and budding names.
