The Education Minister of Azerbaijan, Misir Mardanov, stated during his visit to Samukh district of Azerbaijan that nearly 5,000 teachers are needed in far village schools of Azerbaijan.

He stressed that a State Program is being carried out to send teachers to villages which have a demand for teachers. According to the Program, the teachers who are sent to far village will receive double the salary. According to Mardanov, the number of the teachers who are being sent to far villages is increasing year-by-year. He said that approximately 1000 teachers in 2005 and more than 1200 teachers in 2006 were sent to far villages.

Their number will probably be increased this year. The State has not had the opportunity to provide 5,000 teachers and pay their salaries at once. On the other hand, only a few teachers wish to teach in far villages. Because conditions in villages are not equal to the city, Mardanov said.
