Decree of Cabinet of Ministers Expected to Restore Collapsed Building in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 January / corr Trend I. Khalilova/ The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has worked out decree to restore the collapsed 16- storied building in one of the central streets of Baku on August 2007, Abid Sharifov, the chairman of the State Commission for Emergency Situations and the deputy prime minister said. He did not divulge the content of the decree and the sources of compensation until the decree is issued.

Some 25 people died as a result of the collapse of the building. The construction was carried out by the Azerbaijani company Mutafakkir. The head of the company Asgar Aliyev was arrested according to the article 222 (the violation of the rules of safety in construction and other areas) of the Penal Code of Azerbaijan.

According to Sharifov, the reasons of the collapse have already been established by the experts.

The President issued decree to strengthen the control over the construction sphere after the collapse of the building.
