Uzbekistan's power grid in 2008 generated 49.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, the Committee of State Statistics reported.
Public Joint Stock Company (SJC) "Uzbekenergo" summed up the development of the industry over the past year, the press service of the company reported to Trend . Uzbek consumers released 10 million Gcal of thermal energy. Total of exported goods made about of 21,2 million dollars.
In 2009, SAC "Uzbekenergo" intends to increase its electricity exports mainly due to its implementation in Afghanistan. Upon completion of construction of more powerful transmission lines to the Afghan border, the supply will increase from 70 to 300 MW of power. The relevant agreement was reached in August 2008 during the visit of the Minister of Energy and water resources of Afghanistan Muhammad Ismailhana to Tashkent.
According to Statistics Committee, for 2007 the volume of electricity production in Uzbekistan amounted to 48.95 billion kilowatt-hours.
