The Tokyo stock market started the week lower in Monday morning trading, dpa reported.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 17.54 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 7,398.84. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was down 2.5 points, or 0.34 per cent, to 737.03.
On currency markets, the dollar was weaker against the yen and euro.
