Azerbaijan imports more than 170,000 tons cement in 2009

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 16 / Trend / In January-March Azerbaijan imported 305,300 tons of cement and cement clinker, which is 41.3 percent lower than the same period of 2008, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported. Cement clinker in January-March was imported in volume of 126,200 tons, 43.5 percent lower than last year. Klinker was imported in amount of $4.3 million, which is 40.3 percent lower than the figure of last year. During the first quarter of this year, the country imported 179,100 tons of cement, which is 39.6 percent less the January-March 2008. The cement during the period was imported worth about $7 million, which is 30.6 percent less than last year.
