Turkmenistan to build complex of pharmaceutical enterprises

Construction of a number of contemporary enterprises in the pharmaceutical industry is envisaged in different regions of the country, an official Turkmen source reported on Wednesday.

This number includes an enterprise launching mineral medicinal water in a location called Brezengi near Ashkhabad, an enterprise on the production of antiseptic solutions in the city of Abadan in the Akhal area, an iodine production launch of iodine sticks and pencils in Bereket, a company packing medicinal clay in the village of Jabal in Balkan region and also an enterprise on making sterile dressing materials in Dashoghuz.

According to local press statements, during the signing of respective documents, the president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimukhamedov requested an active study and use of the unique type of skills, development of new medical preparations out of domestic raw materials and broadening of the range and volume of medicament production satisfying strict world standards.

Events are being held in the framework of the state programme on the development of the pharmaceutical industry in 2011-2015. Construction of a plant producing infusion solutions, reconstruction of the Saglyk pharmaceutical enterprise and construction of its new production corpuses are being implemented quickly.

Over past 10 years the general cost of construction of medical entities in Turkmenistan amounted to more than 1.5 billion US dollars.

Expenditure of more than 500 million US dollars is planned over the following three years, 30-40 per cent of which will be backed by foreign investments.
