The World Bank (WB) expects the real GDP growth at 7.6 percent in Uzbekistan in 2017, according to the bank’s “June 2017 Global Economic Prospects: A Fragile Recovery” report.

In January 2017, the WB forecasted Uzbekistan’s economic growth at a level of 7.3 percent.

The WB has also improved its forecast on GDP growth in Uzbekistan in 2018 and 2019. According to the current forecast, Uzbekistan’s GDP will increase by 7.6 and 7.8 percent, respectively, in 2018 and 2019, against the forecasted 7.3 and 7.4 percent in January, respectively.

WB experts also believe that Uzbekistan’s economy will grow thanks to the strengthening of ties between the countries of Central Asia.

According to the bank’s report, Uzbekistan’s GDP rose by 7.8 percent in 2016 that is consistent with data of state agencies.

In 2017, the Uzbek government plans to increase GDP by 7.8 percent, industrial production – by 8 percent, agricultural products – by 6.2 percent and volume of investments – by 9.6 percent as compared to 2016. Meanwhile, it is planned to keep inflation within the range of 5.7-6.7 percent.
