Kazakh refinery increases fuel manufacturing

Following the modernization of Atyrau Refinery the manufacturing of paraxylene, which is an industrially significant raw material and a product of high cost, was launched, said the Managing Director of the refinery Shukhrat Danbay said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the refinery.

The modernization consisted of three stages and was fully finished in 2018. Furthermore, refinery has been exporting another high cost product, i.e. benzol in amount of 133,000 tons a year since 2016.

“Following two final stages of modernization the manufacturing of fuel was increased to 1.441 million tons a year, of diesel fuel to 1.700 million tons a year, of jet fuel PT to 251,000 tons a year. The refinery has also launched manufacturing of unique low-hardening diesel fuel KHAZAR -32,” Danbay said.

“The capacity of the plant has been increased by 500,000 tons and amounted to 5.5 million tons a year. The output of light oil was increased to 71 percent, the depth of processing to 90 percent,” managing director added.

“Furthermore, currently five more new projects on modernization of the refinery’s infrastructure are underway. They include maintaining work of administrative buildings, modernization of telecommunication network, standardization of work places and reconstruction of internal roads,” he stated.

"​Also, overhaul of the refinery was launched on July 10, 2019 and is underway at the moment. The plant is to reach the planned capacity before the end of the month," he concluded.
