The UK is interested in using the experience of the Azerbaijani customs service in connection with the rearrangement of the customs affairs at the border checkpoints between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp said.
Sharp made the remarks in Baku at a meeting with Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, Lieutenant General of the Customs Service Safar Mehdiyev, Trend reports on Oct. 9 referring to the State Customs Committee.
“Such a need arose in connection with the Brexit procedure,” Sharp added.
In turn, Mehdiyev emphasized the importance of mutual exchange of experience between the two countries.
He also stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to share the experience of the customs service in connection with the rearrangement of customs affairs at the border checkpoints between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in case of necessity.
