By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Czech aid is currently implementing 16 projects in Georgia, the Czech Development Agency told Trend.
According to the agency, these range from projects launched in previous years in the area of social protection and health, such as cancer screening, services and long-term care for people with autism, long-term and palliative care for children, social care for marginalized groups of people, and alternative social care for adults, to newer projects, such as a study and terms of reference for the clean-up of the site of a former refinery in Batumi or a complex, large-scale forestry project in Aragvi.
"Our total budget for Georgia for the year 2021 is approximately 2.3 million euro," the agency noted.
As the source noted, it focused a lot on social services and health care; it has become obvious during the COVID-19 pandemic that robust, well-functioning health care and social services are key to limiting the fallout from the crisis. Georgia is doing quite well in this respect.
"We are now working, together with the Georgian authorities, on introducing "e-health" and further educating village, rural and municipal doctors in the face of the pandemic. We were also active in agriculture (in particular beekeeping, which is crucial for Georgia) and land protection," the agency added.
