In order to prevent air pollution as a result of emission of harmful gases from vehicles State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) moves to the Euro ecological standards, SOCAR said.
SOCAR has built three ecological measuring stations, provided with modern equipment, in order to bring the gas emitted into the atmosphere in accordance with the Euro standards in 2009 on the areas of oil and gas productions departments "Bibiheybatneft", "Balakhanineft" and "Gum Adası".
In accordance with agreements concluded with SOCAR's enterprises and organizations, vehicles which are on the balance of these structures are undergoing ecological survey, conducted by experts of the ecological measurement center of SOCAR's Ecological Department. In the case of non-compliance of vehicles with ecological standards acts will be applied towards them.
In order to expand the activities ecological measurement center passed accreditation of independence in the system of national certification AZS and received a certificate. The accreditation was granted the center by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents. In accordance with the requirements of the system, ecological measurement stations were equipped with gas analyzer devices.
Since July 1, Azerbaijan has begun applying Euro-2 standards and due to it SOCAR has begun exploitation of own vehicles in accordance with these standards.
