BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. To date, a total of 32 million tons of Turkmen oil have been exported to world markets via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, Trend reports via “Business Turkmenistan” news agency.

This was stated on October 26 by the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf during his speech at the 27th "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan -2022" International Conference (OGT-2022) in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.

During his speech, Najaf informed about SOCAR's multifaceted activities in the oil and gas sector, as well as its opportunities in the Caspian Sea and long-term strategic goals.

According to Najaf, the memorandum of understanding signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on joint exploration, development and exploitation of the hydrocarbon resources of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea opens up new opportunities for the two countries in terms of mutually beneficial cooperation in the gas sector.

The SOCAR president also noted that the Southern Gas Corridor, which is an initiative of the European Commission on the route of natural gas supplies from the Caspian and Middle Eastern regions to Europe, is of great importance not only for Azerbaijan, but also for the countries of the region.
