Japanese-German alliance becomes consultant of Azerenerji

Azerenerji energy company told Trend that the TEPSCO and Fichtner, a Japanese-German alliance won a tender on rendering of consultative services under a project on the reconstruction of the Azerbaijani thermo-power station in Mingachevir city of Azerbaijan.

The alliance was confirmed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which will finance the project.

The consultant will design a technical specification of the project which will be further taken as a base for tender bid by contractors on the reconstruction of the TPS, as well as organize ad hold a tender on the definition of a general contractor.

Two alliances of companies German DECON and Vattenfall and Japanese-German TEPSCO and Fichtner participated in the tender on selection of a consultant.

A relevant credit agreement will be signed soon with the EBRD on the reconstruction of the station.

The reconstruction work u in the power blocs will be set up in the first quarter of 2007.

Till that period it is necessary to hold a tender and determine the general contractor.

AzTPS, built in 1980s, is the biggest power station in Azerbaijan. The project on reconstruction of the station includes upgrade of energy blocs, water fence system and chimney.

Earlier Azerbaijan was dissatisfied with the terms of crediting set by the EBRD. However, after the visit of the EBRD President, Jean Lemier to Azerbaijan, the bank released the terms and the talks in this respect will be continued.
