BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. The new edition of Iran's Bahar Azadi gold coin was sold for about 170 million rials (about $4,035), on November 29, Trend reports citing the Iran Jewellery Association’s official website.

On November 28, the coin was sold for 171 million rials (about $4,071).

The previous edition of the coin was sold for 164 million rials (about $3,892), on November 29.

The other versions of the new Bahar Azadi gold coin (different in weight and with pure gold content), include 1/4 Bahar Azadi gold coins and 1/2 Bahar Azadi gold coins.

The 1/2 coin is worth 92 million rials (about $2,190), while the 1/4 coin is sold for 62 million rials (about $1,476).

The price of one gram of 18-karat gold stood at 15.3 million rials (about $364), on November 29.

The coins appeared in Iran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The Central Bank of Iran issued the coins, putting them up for wholesale and retail sales.

The old gold coins were minted from 1979 to 1991, after which the bank released new ones.
