BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. Azerbaijan's payment card activity through ATMs and POS-terminals totaled 5.587 billion manat, or $3.28 billion (against 3.29 billion manat, $1.9 billion, in the same period of 2021) as of December 1, 2022, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, this figure increased by 1.857 billion manat ($1.09 billion), or 49.79 percent year over year.
The total number of payment card transactions amounted to 65.739 million (growth of 72.94 percent), out of which 5.339 million transactions worth 264 million manat ($155.07 million) were carried out abroad.
As many as 59.81 million debit card transactions worth 5.2 billion manat ($3.05 billion) have been conducted both within the country and abroad. Out of the total number, 11.07 million transactions worth 2.59 billion manat ($1.5 billion) were implemented through ATMs within the country, whereas 17.89 million worth 603 million manat ($354.19 million) – through POS terminals.
Bank customers executed 5.93 million transactions for a total of 338 million manat ($198.5 million) via credit cards (both within the country and abroad).
Meantime, 345,000 transactions worth 67 million manat ($39.35 million) were carried out through ATMs, while 3.249 million transactions worth 148 million manat ($86.9 million) – through POS terminals.
In the first 11 months of 2022, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan increased by 2.27 million or 20.94 percent and reached 13.13 million (against 10.858 million a year earlier).
