Center for Safety of Educational Computer Networks (CERT/CSIRT) of Azerbaijan's Education Network (AZEDUNET) has been launched. AZEDUNET director Samad Abbasov said the center launched under State Program on Informatization of Education System in 2008-2012 aims to prevent incidents and threats to information safety incoming and outgoing from Azerbaijan's education system.
The threats include attacks and attempts of unauthorized access, incorrect use of hardware and software and spreading harmful virus.
The Center collects and analyzes information on the incident, as well as provides advice and technical support to users of the Azerbaijani educational network to prevent threats to information security of computer networks. Advanced tools are used to monitor and detect anomalies in computer networks to provide for a quick response. The center also takes measures to prevent possible incidents in educational institutions.
The center was founded under predecessor of AZEDUNET - AzNET project (2004-2007). Group CERT of Azerbaijan educational network is a member of the European community's CERT, which allows sharing information and quickly responding to a threat of global nature.
