Activity of Iran’s Mehrabad International Airport up as more planes fly in

The number of passenger planes received by Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran, increased by 24 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation company (IAC).

According to the statistics, a total of 68,525 planes were received at the airport in 7 months. The figure stood at 55,328 in the same period last Iranian year.

“In general, 5,557,918 passengers were transported through the Mehrabad International Airport in seven months, which increased by 1 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 5,527,430 passengers were transported via this airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 4,309 tons of cargo were transported through Mehrabad International Airport during the reporting period. This is an increase of 14 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 3,796 tons of cargo were transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's Mehrabad International Airport can receive up to 18 million passengers a year.
