BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. The nuclear power plant Bushehr, located in the south of Iran, will resume operation at the end of the third Iranian month (from May 21 through June 20, 2024), Iranian Vice President and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami said, Trend reports.

He said this single Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr Unit 1 shut down on April 21 with the aim of carrying out various repairs at the plant and replacing fuel layers.

The NPP of Bushehr's first power unit began operations in 2011. The Russian atomic entity handed up unit operations to an Iranian entity in 2013. Since 2013, this plant has produced 1000 MWh.

Moreover, over the past 10 years, electricity production at the Bushehr NPP in Bushehr Province, located in southern Iran, has amounted to more than 65 billion kilowatt-hours.

To note, the decision was made last year (2023) to build a nuclear power plant in Iran with a production potential of 20,000 megawatts. Thus, related companies were founded in the country to build NPPs in 5 provinces.
