Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to energy projects, says minister

Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, Dec. 23 / Trend , R.Mashadihasanli/ Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ednan Karabaev received Andrea Studer, deputy permanent representative of the Swiss Cooperation Office, Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry told Trend .

During the talks, the parties discussed the outcome of 2008 and tasks for 2009. Minister Karabaev stressed that Kyrgyzstan is seeking to step up the pace of development in the fields of economy, mining, tourism, agriculture and is carrying out active work to create an information and research base of modern technologies, i.e., those industries that can attract the attention of European investors, as well as in the field of transport communication. According to the Minister, in the light of contemporary challenges and threats (financial, energy, food crisis) Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to energy projects.

Ednan Karabaev also stressed the importance of the second meeting of the bilateral trade and economic commission and the need to organize the next meeting in 2009. The minister voiced his appreciation to the Switzerland for invaluable assistance in the development of mountain areas through the Central Asian Mountain Program (CAMP), implementation of which will be completed by 2010. Swiss representative received a draft agreement on youth policy cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Swiss Confederation and a project to equip a gym in order to develop rehabilitation at the rehabilitation-diagnosis hospital of the Centre of health-social assessment and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
