President: Turkmenistan open for positive dialogue with UK

Turkmenistan is always open for a positive dialogue with the UK and business circles of this friendly country, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said at a meeting with co-chair of Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council Ronald Nash, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

As noted in the media, Nash said "the great potential and rapid economic growth in Turkmenistan opens new opportunities for the full development of cooperation between the two countries."

During the meeting views were exchanged on strengthening the Turkmen-British dialogue. Trade-economic and investment fields, the fuel and energy sector, construction, sports were called as priority areas.

The Co-chairman of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council has assured that the business community of the UK intends to continue to take an active part in all the reform programs in Turkmenistan, the information said.

At present, such British companies as Petrofac, Dragon Oil, Burren Energy, Gaffney, Cline & Associates, De La Rue and others are presented at the Turkmen market. Official London considers Turkmenistan, which has the world's gas reserves, as a key player in the international energy markets.

The leadership the Central Asian country in turn, referring to the perspectives of Turkmen natural gas supply to European markets, including the UK, said that it fully meets the plans of Turkmenistan to diversify its energy exports to world markets.

Ashgabat hosts a number of business forums, which were attended by representatives of such companies from the UK, as Aero Assets Ltd, AJW Aviation, BG Group, BP Exploration Operating Company Limited, Bridgehouse Capital, BSP International Founddations Ltd, Cape Industrial Services Europe Limited, Construction Equipment Association, De La Rue, Eagle Scientific Limited, Eurasia Group, Gomaco International Ltd, HSBC Bank PLC, Over Arup & Partners, Petrofac, Shell International Ltd and others.
