Farahnaz Turkestani, appointed by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the post of the National Youth Organization Head and one of his vices, refused to take the office, the Fars news agency reported.

"I refuse the offered positions as I do not feel strong enough to serve as head of the agency," Turkestani said. "I refused the post at the time of approval of my candidacy, but nonetheless, my appointment took place."

Turkestani now serves as Deputy Health Minister for work with students.

Ahmadinejad on Monday signed a decree on the appointment of Turkestani the head of the National Youth Organization. Turkestani was supposed to replace Mehrdad Bazrpash, whom Ahmadinejad appointed as his adviser on public relations.
