Date for Iran-G5+1 not yet fixed: FM spokesman

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said here on Tuesday that the date for Iran-G 5+1 meeting has not yet been fixed, IRNA reported.

Talking to domestic and foreign journalists during his weekly press briefing, he added that the venue of talks has been agreed upon. He remarked that the consultation on holding the meeting late January in Istanbul continues.

Cooperation on "issues of common interest" will be the topic of discussion during the next Iran-G 5+1 meeting, Mehmanparast said.

On the two German nationals detained in Iran, he said they have met their family members in the northwestern city of Tabriz Monday night.

Family members of the two detained German nationals are currently in Iran to meet them upon a request made by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. They also met with Caretaker of Iran's Foreign Ministry Ali-Akbar Salehi Monday evening, the FM spokesman said.

Westerwelle has recently asked Salehi to allow the families to meet the two ahead of the New Year's Eve.
The two German nationals are currently held in a jail in the city of Tabriz in East Azarbaijan province.

Mehmanparast stressed that the two detained Germans were able to meet their family members in the light of Tehran's humanitarian approach.
