Iran plans to export $160M of medicine by March

Iran plans to export $160 million worth of medicine in the current Iranian fiscal year, which ends on March 20, 2015.

Rasoul Dinarvand, head of Iran's Food and Drug Organization, said exports of medicine rose this year compared to the past year, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on Jan. 6.

The value of medicine imports is predicted to hit $900 million by the end of the year, he noted.

Iran exported $64.586 million of medicine in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22, 2014), a 40 percent rise compared to $46.173 million in the same period of time last year.

The country exported 4,224 metric tons of medicine during the mentioned period of time, showing one percent drop compared to 4275 metric tons in the 7-month period in the previous year.

Medicine exports accounted for 0.33 percent of the country's total non-oil exports during the first seven months of current Iranian year.
