Tehran, Iran, June 21

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

As the Iranian nuclear talks are going on, the world's oil giants are seeking ways to rebuild their ties with the Islamic Republic, said Mehdi Hosseini, who leads a workgroup revising the Iranian Oil Ministry's contracts.

He said that in the meantime, European companies have been visiting Iran more frequently than the past.

In the past few months, around 30 European and Asian companies have held talks with Iran on oil and gas projects, Hosseini said, Mehr news agency reported June 21.

The official added that the Iranian government considers no limit for US companies to do business with Iran.

On June 6, Iran's oil minister, Bijan Zanganeh said the country welcomes the participation of American corporations in its oil projects.

In Europe, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, BP Plc, Total SA, Eni SpA and other companies have lauded their interest in a return to Iran, but "fully abiding the EU sanctions imposed on Iran" is their major concern, Knut Rostad, A spokesman of Statoil told Trend June 4.

Iran and P5+1(the US, Uk, China, Russia, Germany, France) are negotiating around the country's nuclear program to reach a comprehensive deal by June 30, which will pave the way for lifting sanctions on Iran.

Iran used to offer buy-back contracts to foreign companies, but it is preparing to present a new kind of contracts enabling foreign companies to establish joint ventures with Iranian companies to develop projects.
