Living cost in Iran 2.74 times the minimum wage

The living cost for the average Iranian family over one year is at least 267.5 million rials.

This is while the poverty line for an Iranian family is 18 million rials per month (216 million rials per year), IRNA news agency reported February 24.

According to the report, the minimum wage is expected to rise by 13 to 15 percent for the upcoming Iranian year, which will begin March 21.

The inflation rate in Iran’s urban area for the 12-month period to the eleventh calendar month of Bahman (ended on Feb. 20) hit 8.7 percent, which indicates an increase by 0.1 percent compared to the preceding
month, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) said Feb. 23.

The Central Bank also said that setting the Iranian fiscal year 1390 (March 21, 2011 to March 20, 2012) as the main one, that is 1390=100, the consumer price index (CPI) in Iran 's urban areas stood at 257.7 units in the eleventh month of the current fiscal year, which is 1.1 percent more than in the preceding month. The figure shows an annual growth of 10.6 percent.
