Iran’s power plants use 20 bcm of gas in 100 days

Iran delivered 19.961 billion cubic meters of gas to its power plants during 100 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 21), which is about 12.2 percent more than the same period last year.

According to the latest weekly report, released by Iran’s Energy Ministry on July 5, Iran also increased gas oil supply to power plants by 2.6 percent to 360 million liters, but fuel oil deliveries decreased by 56.5 percent to 299 million liters in the mentioned 100 days.

During the mentioned period, Iran generated 87.4 terawatt-hours (TWh) electricity, of which 2.571 TWh was exported (+66% growth).

Iran also decreased electricity import by 6 percent to 1.31 TWh in 100 days.

During this period, Iran added 0.5 GW to the nominal power generation capacity, which stands now at 77 GW. Iran plans to increase the figure by 4.232 GW by the end of the current fiscal year.
