1. OIL AND GAS

а) Oil and Gas production

In January to June 2007, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Operating Companies (OC) and Joint Ventures (JV) produced 4388,230mln tons of oil from onshore and offshore fields of the Country, which is by 62,230 tons (1.4%) less than was produced in 2006.

During this period the oil and gas production units (OGPU) of SOCAR produced a total of 3,774 mln tons of oil, or 65,030 tons (1.7) less as compared to 2006.

In his period foreign companies within the joint ventures (JV) and operating companies (OC) produced 590,000 tons oil, which is by 2,800 tons (15%) more than was produced in 2006.

According to SOCAR, in January to June 2007, the total gas production in Azerbaijan comprised of 4685,30 mln cu.m. or 1324,23mln cu.m. (39.1%) more as compared to 2006.

The oil and gas production units of SOCAR produced 2680,28mln cu.m. of gas, or 771,43mln cu.m. (40.4%) more as compared to 2006. JV and OC produced 71,81mln cu.m. of gas in this period, or 9,98mln cu.m. (16.1%) more than in 2006.

During this period the Azerbaijan International operating Company (AIOC) produced, from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, 1418,86mln cu.m. of associated gas, or 1.6% more as compared to 2006.

There are 57 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, including 18 offshore. SOCAR staff consists of 59,170 employees.

б) Oil refinery

From January-June, the Baku-based oil refineries, part of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic(SOCAR) - the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Plant (formerly Azerneftyanacag) and Azerneftyag, refined 3,889,570 tons of oil, that is 6.1% more than the corresponding period of 2006. 

According to the State Statistics Committee, during this period the production of motor-petrol grew by 24.5%, kerosene by 5.6%, oil bitumen by 29.6% and naphtha by 49.2%. Production of mazut, diesel fuel and lubricants decreased.

в) Realization

SOCAR announced that from January to June the Marketing and Economic Operations Department of SOCAR's export of oil products from oil refinery plants of Azerbaijan made up 1.343 mln tons. In July the company exported 364,700 tons of oil products compared to 283,400 tons in May.

In June the company exported 130,952 tons of mazut, 56,226 tons of petrol, 139,975 of diesel fuel, 33,297 tons of jet kerosene, 2,534 tons of lubricants and 1,882 tons of bitumen.

2. Power engineering

Over the period of January-June 2007, Azerenergy JSC produced nearly 11.372 bln KWt electricity, Company's press service reports. Over the period of January-June 2006, Azerenergy produced 10.806 bln KWt electricity, of which 9.355 bln KWt falls on the share of heating plants.

Of the electricity produced in the first half of 2007, 9.89 bln KWt fall on share of heating plants and nearly 1.48 KWt on share of hydroelectric power plants.

In June, 1.4 bln KWt electricity was produced and electricity was exchanged with Russia, Iran and Georgia.

3. Chemical complexes

In June 2007 the Azerkimiya State Company produced all types of chemical products, except ethylene. The Company, which ceased production in February and March, has restored production of almost all types of products.
