Georgia, Italy discuss issues of expanding bilateral cooperation

Ambassador of Georgia to Italy, Kakha Sikharulidze presented his credentials to the country’s President Giorgio Napolitano. Following the official ceremony there was a meeting of the Italian president with Georgia’s new ambassador to the country, Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Ambassador of Georgia to Italy, Kakha Sikharulidze presented his credentials to the country's President Giorgio Napolitano. Following the official ceremony there was a meeting of the Italian president with Georgia's new ambassador to the country, Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

According to the report, during the meeting the parties discussed different spheres of bilateral cooperation.

The importance of expanding trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries was especially stressed. The Italian president was also informed about internal political processes in Georgia.

Napolitano congratulated the Georgian ambassador with the beginning of his diplomatic activity in the country and expressed a hope that his activity will focus on further deepening of relations between the two countries.
