Georgia’s oil imports from Turkmenistan quadruples

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 22

Turkmenistan exported $22.8 million worth of petroleum and petroleum oils to Georgia in November 2021, which is an increase of 338.4 percent, compared to $5.2 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The same amount increased by 68.8 percent, compared to $13.5 million worth of petroleum and petroleum oils imported to Georgia in October 2021.

Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Turkmenistan from January through November 2021 amounted to $175.7 million, which is an increase of 189.9 percent, compared to $60.6 million over the same period of 2020.

Thus, Turkmenistan became the main exporter of petroleum and petroleum oils to Georgia over the first 11 months of 2021, followed by Russia ($123.4 million) and Azerbaijan ($115.2 million).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from January through November 2021 amounted to 1.1 million tons worth $737.8 million, which is an increase of 63.6 percent, compared to $450.9 million over the same period of 2020.
