Re-election of Michael Saakashvili Mean Continue of Georgian Independent and Pro-West Policy

Israel, Jerusalem / Trend corr. R.Abdullayev / The presidential election in Georgia held on 5 January decided the destiny of the country, will the country to be a state or it will return to its black past.

The elected President of Georgia Michael Saakashvili belongs to those politicians who intend to do all immediately. By dating the presidential election Saakashvili may cause danger to his career and the future of the country, including strained relations with Russia.

However, the main dignity of Saakashvili is persistence to reach his goals and totality of some norms that Saakashvili never decline. The special presidential election was dated by the re-elected President Saakashvili, who took a decision to risk in order restore his mandate a year before expire of his presidential post.

The debatable result may have to cause threat the political stability in the country, which is a strict ally of the West and opponent of the Russian Federation. Most community poll demonstrated that Saakashvili prevailed over the other six candidates for the presidential post. There were not real candidature who can oppose Saakashvili. The political crises in Georgia were tackled successfully. Saakashvili demonstrated himself as firm and strategically thinking politician. All steps taken by Saakashvili were completely right although he ordered to disperse the planed rally. Most people valued such an action as negatively. Now it became clear that the decision taken by Saakashvili was quite right, taking into consideration that Saakashvili wanted to protect stability and independence of Georgia. From economic and geopolitical point of view the territory of Georgia is a transport corridor for oil supply from the Caspian Sea to Turkey and to Europe and America. Georgia is important for Russia as a buffer on the south flank of the North Atlantic Alliance. It is not secret that Georgia has an important strategic role in implementation of geopolitical projects in South Caucasus. Unique peculiarities of South Caucasus create conditions due to which Azerbaijan and Georgia turns to an important factor to survive. According to the Israeli expert, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline together with the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum gas pipeline to provide energy security in Georgia from Russia, which is the single natural gas supplier to Georgia. Baku and Tbilisi which feel strategic threat from their neighbour, try to guarantee their by blocking with Washington and Ankara. So, stable, independent and pro-west Georgia headed by Saakashvili meets national interests of Azerbaijan.
