One Afghan police was killed and two others sustained injuries as two suicide bombers blew themselves up in Nimroz province west of Afghanistan Monday, provincial governor Ghulam Dastgir Azad said, Xinhua reported.
"Two suicide bombers riding a motorbike attempted to enter Counter-Narcotic Department in provincial capital Zaranj at 11:30 a.m. this morning and the police stopped them for checking but the two exploded themselves, killing one police constable and wounding two others," Azad told Xinhua.
Both the suicide bombers were killed in the explosion.
Taliban militants in their new tactic have resorted to suicide attacks and roadside bombings to mount pressure on Afghan government and international troops based in Afghanistan.
In a coordinated suicide attacks against government buildings in the capital city Kabul weeks ago 20 persons almost all of them civilians were killed and 54 others sustained injuries.
