A car heading north of Malaysia crashed into a toll plaza in the northern state of Penang, killing three people, Xinhua reported.

The accident took place at about 2.15 a.m. here at the Sungai Dua Toll Plaza located in the North-South Expressway of Malaysia when it was raining.

Two men in the front seats and a woman on the rear were burnt to death as the car burst into flame after the collision.

Eye-witnesses said that the fire had flared for 20 minutes.

The cause of the accident was being investigated.

North-South Expressway is the longest expressway in Malaysia with a total length of 966 kilometers, running from the north to the south of peninsula Malaysia.
