At least one footbridge collapsed and several homes were destroyed in the massive quake Tuesday in southern Mexico, authorities said, dpa reported.
A Mexico City pedestrian bridge collapsed onto an empty vehicle.
Guerrero Governor Angel Aguirre said several homes and walls collapsed in his state, particularly in the municipalities of Huajintepec and Paso del Cuaulote.
"Fortunately, the report we have so far is that there are no deaths," Aguirre told Mexican media.
He said authorities were flying over the area to assess damage.
"It was a very big scare, but luckily we have no reports of major damage," Mexican President Felipe Calderon said.
The US Geological Survey's revised estimate put the quake's strength at magnitude 7.4, with the epicentre in Oaxaca state.
Mexico's National Seismological Service put the magnitude at 7.8 and located the epicentre south of Ometepec, a city of 50,000 in the state of Guerrero, about 190 kilometres from the Pacific resort of Acapulco.
