Economy & Foreign Trade Minister Jeannot Krecke of Luxembourg has said that Europe needed a bridge like Turkey and Turkish people, reported Worldbulletin.
Speaking at a seminar on "Luxembourg: Your Business and Finance Center" hosted by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) in Istanbul, Krecke said that Turkey was located on a connection point between the two continents and that natural resources of the developing countries were being processed as a result of Turkey's contribution.
Europe needs a bridge like Turkey that could mediate between the western and the Islam worlds, he said.
Highlighting importance of Turkey's role in meeting Europe's energy requirement, Krecke said that Caspian oil and natural gas should be transported to Europe.
Prior to the seminar, Krecke met Kadir Topbas, mayor of Istanbul. Preparatory works for European cultural capital activities in Istanbul in 2010 were high on agenda of the meeting.
