Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Friday that "I am ashamed, on behalf of humanity, about Israel's attacks on Gaza".

Speaking to reporters at a joint press conference with Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Ankara, Gul said that he is deeply saddened over the silence of the whole globe regarding the deaths of children and the difficulty in establishing a cease-fire, reported World bulletin.

Asked about Turkey's efforts for a cease-fire, Gul said that Turkey is conducting diplomacy to establish a cease-fire.

"All sides involved must establish cease-fire immediately. Continuation of incidents (in Gaza) will lead to great instability. This instability may be carried to future generations," Gul said.

Calling on the new U.S. administration to help establish a cease-fire and solve the problem, Gul said that "permitting the continuation of attacks on Gaza is a very dangerous step. A cease-fire must be established as early as possible and an order must be created whereby Palestine and Israel can live side by side without problems".

All developments from Afghanistan to Africa, Iraq and regional matters are all linked to the Palestinian issue, Gul said.

Reminding Israel's attacks on Beirut in 2006, Gul said that "such pains can not be repeated every two years. Will we all meet another tragedy two years from now? Neither the region nor the world can bear another pain two years from now".
