Trend:

Armenian armed forces have 26 times violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan on various parts of the frontline over the last 24 hours, said Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry May 28.

Armenian army was using large-caliber weapons.

Armenian armed forces stationed on the nameless heights of Armenia's Krasnoselsk district opened fire at the Azerbaijani positions on the nameless heights of Gadabay district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions near the villages of Yarimja, Chilaburt of Terter district, Shuraabad, Yusifjanli, Nemirli, Marzili of Aghdam district, Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz and Gorgan villages of Fizuli district.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
