Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not believe that the U.S. Congress will make an emotional decision and recognize the alleged Armenian Genocide, the Cihan news agency reported.
Erdogan said the U.S. is aware of Turkey's significance.
"I do not think the U.S. will bow before people who do not realize Turkey's significance," Erdogan said.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor - the Ottoman Empire - committed genocide against Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915.
Armenians want the genocide to be recognized worldwide and have intensified their propaganda. Several parliaments have recognized the alleged genocide. The Armenian lobby is expected to up its activities, especially in the U.S., due to anniversary of the event in April.
