Mexican Senate has recognized the events in the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly as genocide.
Armenian armed forces attacked on population of the Khojaly city, which is located in Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan on Feb. 26, 1992. As a result of their acts, which were recognized by international community as genocide, hundreds of people were killed because of their ethnic background, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said with reference to the decision of the Mexican Senate.
