President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inspected construction and installation work of topsides at the "West Chirag" platform.
The Head of State was told that the topsides of the platform were laid in 2010.
With its weight of 18,200 tonnes (which includes 1500 tonnes of floating tanks) the West Chirag platform topsides was the heaviest structure ever installed in the Caspian Sea.
The topsides were fully constructed at the ATA (Amek-Tekfen-Azfen) fabrication yard.
Over 2000 people including sub contractors and specialist vendors, were involved in the construction works. Some 96 percent of construction workers were Azerbaijani nationals.
President Ilham Aliyev met the constructors of topsides and expressed satisfaction with the carried out work. Afterwards, a joint photo was taken.
