Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamghizi / The Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA), headed by Sardar Jalaloghlu, will apply to court and the Ministry of Justice one more time after the party claiming the same name holds their Congress.

The DPA Congress, headed by Rasul Guliyev, will be held on 14 April.

Mr. Jalaloghlu noted that the appeals for the Sabayil District Court and the Ministry of Justice aimed at preventing the illegal event, gave no positive results. According to Mr. Jalaloghlu, the court delayed resolving the matter and so he lodged a complaint to the Court of Appeal, despite the Ministry stating that the process was under its control. Mr. Jalaloghlu voiced his opinion that the formation of a party or even a music group with the already-existing name is non-compliant result with the law and it reveals the irresponsibility of state bodies. "We will not allow two DPAs to exist simultaneously," Mr Jalaoghlu urged.

After the decision to change its political course, the DPA split into two parts, with one group consisting of Jalaloghlu supporters and the other one uniting the supporters of Rasul Guliyev. Azerbaijani ex-speaker, Rasul Guliyev, has been residing in exile since 1996.
