The State Committee for Family, Women and Children believes that it needs to conduct enlightenment activities to prevent divorces in Azerbaijani families.
"The number of divorces has reduced in families in Azerbaijan. However, divorces still take place and it needs to conduct enlightenment activities to prevent them," the chairperson of the State Committee Hijran Huseynova told Trend on Sunday.
Only last year 9,000 divorces have occurred because of family disputes. And last year about 90,000 marriages were recorded. According to official statistics, the majority of divorces occur in families of newly married couples. More than half of divorced spouses have no children.
Huseynova said that the globalization processes occurring in the world have an impact on Azerbaijani families as well.
"We have organized researches on family planning. At the end of the month, we will hold a presentation, which will show in which areas it needs to conduct work. Why does divorce occur? Research topic was also conflicts between old, middle and younger generations in the family," said Huseynova.
