On 6 November, witnesses were questioned at the court session on the criminal cases of the former senior official of the Head Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Haji Mammadov and the criminal gang lead by him. The court session comprised of 25 persons, and was held at the Court of Heinous Crimes of Azerbaijan under the Chair of Judge Ali Seyfaliyev, Trend reports.
Evidence was provided by the scientific worker of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, Head Executive Director of Baku International Company, Gazanfar Pashayev, Head Executive Director of Klauf Company, Samir Guliyev and Maharram Bagirov, the brother of Ulvan Bagirov, who was kidnapped by the gang and held hostage for a period of 39 days,.
Pashayev stated that as soon as he heard that his nephew Shahin Pashayev had been attacked, he arrived in the scene of the incident. He noticed that his nephew had a leg wound. According to Pashayev, there was $200,000 in the boot of the car which the attackers were unable to retrieve as they were unable to open the boot.
Witness Maharram Bagirov stressed that after his brother was kidnapped by the gang, he immediately got in touch with the gang. Then his brother talked to him on the telephone. Haji Mammadov confirmed the evidence given by the witness and stressed that he himself made it possible for the kidnapped person to speak to his family members. I did this so that his family members knew he was alive and would bring the money, Mammadov told.
Maharram Bagirov emphasized that he delivered the required amount to the gang in front of the Central Department Store and nearly after 12 hours later his brother was released.
