BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 14
By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:
With the support of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a project to promote the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises is being developed in Azerbaijan, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SME) told Trend.
As part of this project, monitoring will be carried out and recommendations will be developed on the steps to be taken in the field of digitalization, the report said.
“At the same time, we consider priority projects that can contribute to the development of the existing digital ecosystem in the areas supported by our agency, especially in the process of grant competitions and the issuance of a startup certificate. Thus, 70 percent of the winners of grant projects and 80 percent of projects of entrepreneurs who received a start-up certificate are concentrated in the areas of production and provision of services based on innovations and new technologies,” the agency said.
The agency also noted that work is underway to build a new digital economy.
“Currently, due to the rapid growth in the number of mobile devices, data storage using cloud technologies, and an increase in the number of data centers, programs are being implemented to accelerate socio-economic development projects, as well as programs of the public and private sectors,” the report said.
