BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. The auctions system for renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan will be approved soon, Kamran Huseynov, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under Azerbaijani Energy Ministry, said at the 3rd Caspian Europe Forum held in Germany, Trend reports.
“We have been working with several partners and stakeholders on the auctions system development for renewable energy projects, as well as on templates for power purchase agreement. The draft law on this has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, and the legislation is expected to be approved soon,” he said.
The deputy director also noted that the draft version of the rules on application of the net metering and calculation scheme is set to be approved as well.
“Azerbaijan pays significant attention to green transition. National priorities were identified, including those for creating green energy space. Azerbaijan has set its target to increase renewable energy production from the current 17 percent to 30 percent by 2030, as well as reduce GHG emissions by 40 percent,” he added.
