Date for First Monitoring over Bird Flu in Azerbaijan in 2008 Announced
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The date for the first monitoring over the bird flu in Azerbaijan in 2008 announced. The monitoring will be launched on 14 January and last a week, the Azerbaijani State Veterinary Service at the Agricultural Ministry reported.
The monitoring will be implemented in the Absheron and Caspian Sea cost, territory of the national parks in Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi and Lankaran. The monitoring will be held by specialists of the State Veterinary Service, Health Minister, Ecology and Natural Resources and Hunter Association.
In 2007 the State Service carried out 12 monitoring exercises. None of them revealed the virus.
Prohibition of hunting, use and sale of wild birds in Azerbaijan still retains effect. All Azerbaijani border veterinary check points work with medium security in order to prevent spread of bird flu.
