Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 January / Trend / The Azerbaijani Cabinet expanded and approved of the authorities of the Azerbaijani State Migration Service - taking the migrants away from the shadow economy and prevention of negative trends regarding illegal migration.
Now, personal permissions will be given to foreigners on the basis of the comment of the Migration Service; registration of visa blanks will be carried out not only at the Foreign Ministry, but also at the Migration Service. The licenses for working in the country will be given on the basis of the comment of the Migration Service, which will also give permissions for temporary residing in the country. The Migration Service will also extend visas for not-registered foreigners.
Now, in order to prevent being fined AZN 38,000, before employing a migrant, employers must connect with the Migration Service to get information about the migrant.
The arrangements will enable a precise migrant statistics, and to prevent illegal migrants from considerably affecting the labour market trough evading taxes and from entering the shadow economy thus making a large harm to the country.
According to the Migration Service, there are some 10,000 illegal migrants residing and working in Azerbaijan. The number of legal labour migrants in December 2007 made up 1,698.
