Azerbaijan, Baku, June 18 / Trend , U. Ismayilova/

Number of Azerbaijani citizens who travel abroad for summer vocations has reduced 25-30 percent, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry Tourism Department Head Aydin Ismiyev said.

"Vocation day have reduced from 20 to 10 days on average," Ismiyev said.

He said the reduction is due to global financial and economic crisis as many prefer to save on travel expenses.

"Most of the Azerbaijani tourists travel to Turkish resorts because of the close distance, affordable tariffs and lack of language obstacle," he said.

Regarding domestic tourism, Ismiev said there are no exact figures of  travelers to Azerbaijan. However, local hotels and tourist sites do not see significant reduction in the number of visitors.

There are nearly 250 tourism companies and 300 tourism facilities in Azerbaijan.
